Do you know about root canals or endodontic treatments? They are a common procedure in the field of dentistry. Millions of people are treated every year with a root canal procedure.

On the off chance that you experience any dental pain and/or tooth sensitivity, you should visit your dentist as soon as you can. Your dentist will initially assess your tooth and determine if you need treatment. In some cases, a dentist will recommend root canal.

Root canal treatment should be painless. It is done for patients with irreversible irritation or contamination of the nerves contained in the canals in the root(s) of the tooth. Your dentist (or root canal specialist in complex cases) will treat the problem by removing the pulp (or nerve ) from inside the tooth. At that point, he or she will sterilize, clean and shape the canal inside the root(s). The canals are sealed and a temporary filling placed in the opening through which the treatment was done. Your dentist will then review options as to how best move forward to protect the tooth and restore it to proper form and function. After your root canal treatment, you can smile happily again without pain and sensitivity issues.

Often, the vast majority have a typical misconception that the root canal procedure is painful, and that’s why people tend to avoid it. However, patients who have experienced the procedure can testify that if frozen properly, there was no pain whatsoever during the process. After the procedure, some discomfort is normal but easily controlled with over the counter analgesics or anti-inflammatories.

If you’re experiencing any oral pain, you should contact our team at Toronto Beach Dental to have your teeth examined. Our office is located in Toronto, Ontario. You can check our office schedule at torontobeachdental.com.
